When a biopic about Elvis ends, a glutton rises from his ashes. This time, Jacob Elordi plays the King of Rock in yet another cinematic homage to Elvis’ star-stud ex-wife Priscilla Presley. Cailee Spaeny will play Priscilla Presley. Filming will begin this fall in Toronto.
Priscilla Beaulieu Presley’s 1985 best-selling memoir “Elvis and Me” will be brought to the big screen under the direction of Sofia Coppola. The movie is said to be based on the true love story between Priscilla Presley and the Ruler of Rock n’ Roll.
The production comes just months after Austin Butler’s world-shaking Elvis premiere. Many people think that he will earn an Academy Award nomination for his performance.
Announcing his new role, the Euphoria actor shared a photo of Elvis wearing a military uniform on Instagram, matching the image with an easy description saying “E”.
For the project, Coppola will again appear with longtime collaborators, including landscape director Philippe Le Sourd, costume designer Stacey Battat, editor Sarah Flack, and production designer Tamara Deverell.
In addition to writing and directing the film, Coppola is also producing the project along with Youree Henley, Lorenzo Mieli of The Apartment, a Fremantle Company and American Zoetrope. Production is funded by The Apartment and Sony’s Stage 6 Films.
Elordi and Spaeny are the latest stars to portray Elvis and Priscilla Presley on screen. Austin Butler and Olivia DeJonge were cast for this year’s “Elvis,” a biographical music drama from Warner Bros.
